Briefing for Participants

This is an opportunity to present your work as a poster or oral presentation, and receive feedback from your peers.

As with many research symposia, the posters and presentations are selected by a panel of reviewers, from abstracts that are submitted.

The abstract must be targeted to one of two audiences;

  • Popular press audience
  • Scientific audience

Scientific Audience

When planning your abstract/poster/presentation, do remember that for this occasion even a "scientific" presentation should be aimed at an audience of clinical students, rather than specialist audience because the judges will not be specialists in your field. Be aware that a clinical student will have interest in your work, will have some of the background knowledge, but will not be an expert in your area, and will want to know what the importance of the work is to them.

Popular Press

A "popular press" presentation should be written for the general public in a style that can range from a broadsheet to a tabloid newspaper; but in either case must be aimed at a broad audience.
