The Chinese Students and Scholars Association in the UK (CSSA-UK) invites both researchers (postgraduates and postdocs) and entrepreneurs to participate in this unique business plan competition.

CHECUK is the only business competition currently supported by the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy. It provides a platform for transferring innovative ideas into commercial entities and acts as a bridge between participants, investor groups and high-tech incubators in China.

The State Council of China has made the development of high-tech (biotech, e-commerce, energy, materials) and culture/design businesses a major focus. Following this initiative, the CSSA from universities across the UK invites business plan submissions related to these areas.

Final 16 business plan teams receive all-expense paid trip to meet investors, compete and tour incubators in various cities in China.

1st – 1 x £6,000

2nd –2 x £2,000

3rd – 3 x £1,000

Honourable mention prizes –  24 x £200

The competition this year features two subsections: high-tech business plan competition and cultural and general business plan competition. The high-tech subsection aims to attract scholars and students from disciplines including IT, energy, materials, chemical engineering, biotech, medicine, etc. Technological breakthrough will be an important judging criterion in this subsection. The cultural and general business subsection invites scholars and students from all disciplines to participate, with an emphasis on idea novelty and commercialization potential as judging criteria.
The deadline for submission of business plan is May 20, 2013.  For registration and further information, please visit our website: (Click on REGISTER NOW), or email us at
